VERY POSITIVE POLITICAL NEWS FROM 4 ELECTIONS - AND THE EU-UK NEW AGREEMENT

 


Today is a very positive day - politically. At least so far :-)

A total of 4 very important elections have ended in defeat for the very nationalist and right-wing forces in Europe and beyond. The positive and pro-European forces have won!

 

Romania: The newly elected President Nicosor Dan received 54%

of the votes. He was until now the mayor of Bucharest.

 

Poland: Rafal Trzaskowski has won the 1st round of the election for the

presidency. The last round is on June 1st.

He is until now the mayor of Warsaw and

belongs to Donald Tusk's party.

 

Canada: The liberal Mark Carney is the new Prime Minister.

 

Australia: The social democrat Anthony Albanese

was elected Prime Minister.

 

At the same time, the EU and the UK have today concluded an important agreement on defense and security, on trade, and fisheries and on

the exchange of youth. More is surely on the way.

 

So - yes, yes - Trump continues to rumble. But in country after country his supporters are losing ground. So his terrible initiatives have great significance - but especially the opposite of what he wanted!

CANADA - AND TRUMP's TARIFF WAR

  Canada's flag I just want to tell you that our Canadian friends in Toronto have told us that the fight in Canada against Trump and his tariffs is in full swing - and is becoming more and more active. A popular movement has been created called: ELBOWS UP! On April 28th there will be a general election in the country. The new Liberal Prime Minister, Mark Carney, (former head of the Bank of Canada AND also former head of the Bank of England in London) is up against the second largest party, the Conservatives. Before Trump, the Conservatives were leading by a large margin. Now it seems to be on the balance.. The Canadian Conservatives are a long way along the line with Trump on many issues.

GREENLAND - CRUCIAL NEGOTIATIONS TODAY

Today, the Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers are to meet with the US vice president and secretary of state in Washington. The meeting is taking place at the Danish-Greenlandic request. Here, the Danish-Greenlandic side will be very open to even closer cooperation with the Americans on security and on the exploitation of minerals. But they will NOT accept any form of American takeover of Greenland. Out of the question! In this position, Denmark-Greenland has the full support of the EU, Canada, the Nordic countries, and indeed most of the world. At the same time, work is being done to get a multinational military force to Greenland - to better defend the Arctic. And several countries will establish consulates in Nuuk. Canada did so last week. France will open its next month. And there will probably be more.
