GREENLAND AND EUROPE: THE NEWEST DEVELOPMENTS

 

WHO IS TRUMP'S RULER?!

The week is in full swing – a week of crucial importance for Denmark, Greenland and for Europe! And who is Trump “commander”?  Many people's strong assumptions are becoming more and more true! Think about this!

Today, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke at the Davos summit. Here her message was VERY, VERY CLEAR. Total support for Denmark and Greenland. Politically, militarily and economically. Find the speech – which was in English – on YouTube.

Later today, French President Macron spoke at the same venue. And German Chancellor Merz will follow very soon. No wavering in the European clear line!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, President Trump will speak in Davos. What new surprises does he have up his sleeve? And how will he be received by the 3,000 participants from all over the world?

At the same time, both chambers of the US Congress now seem to have gathered a majority to prohibit Trump from intervening militarily in Greenland. Will he follow suit? Or ignore it like so much else ? There is an impeachment case rumbling in the corridors!

On Thursday, there is a special EU summit on the situation.

At the same time, more and more soldiers from Europe are coming to Greenland to strengthen the country's defense.

Be aware that Trump has made 1,500 American special forces in Alaska ready to deploy quickly. These are soldiers who are used to operating in Arctic conditions. He says that they will probably be deployed in Minnesota.  Or where else??  There are about 26,000 American soldiers in Alaska.

At the same time, Canada has just opened its Consulate in Nuuk. And France is following suit by opening their Consulate on February 6. And the special Trump envoy to Greenland, Jeff Landry, has now canceled his planned visit to the country at the end of March.

Finally, and not least: One of Trump's purposes with all this is probably to make the rest of the world "forget" Ukraine. Who gave him that idea?! It must not happen! The Russian attacks on Ukraine are not just continuing - they are intensifying these days! It must stop. NOW. As von der Leyen also said very clearly today. Europe: The time has come to stop both the gangster methods from the West and the war madness from the East!

The new Liberal Prime Minister, Mark Carney, (former head of the Bank of Canada AND also former head of the Bank of England in London) is up against the second largest party, the Conservatives. Before Trump, the Conservatives were leading by a large margin. Now it seems to be on the balance.. The Canadian Conservatives are a long way along the line with Trump on many issues.

GREENLAND - CRUCIAL NEGOTIATIONS TODAY

Today, the Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers are to meet with the US vice president and secretary of state in Washington. The meeting is taking place at the Danish-Greenlandic request. Here, the Danish-Greenlandic side will be very open to even closer cooperation with the Americans on security and on the exploitation of minerals. But they will NOT accept any form of American takeover of Greenland. Out of the question! In this position, Denmark-Greenland has the full support of the EU, Canada, the Nordic countries, and indeed most of the world. At the same time, work is being done to get a multinational military force to Greenland - to better defend the Arctic. And several countries will establish consulates in Nuuk. Canada did so last week. France will open its next month. And there will probably be more.
