HUNGARY - THE CRUCIAL ELECTIONS ON SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 2026

Image
HUNGARY – IN A WEEK! A little about the final phase of the election campaign Europe's problem child goes to the polls in a week. On Sunday, April 12, they will elect a new parliament. What an election. What challenges. And what an attempt at election fraud!                                                                    Viktor Orbán                                                  Peter Magyar         ...

HUNGARY's COMING ELECTIONS ON APRIL 12, 2026

HUNGARY:   The run-up to the parliamentary elections on April 12, 2026   The coming Hungarian elections are very important not only for Hungary, but for Europe. The opposition run by the former Orbán ally, Peter Magyar ( now also a member of the European Parliament, EPP group )   is for the time being leading in an average of opinion polls.   He and his allies are 14 % ahead of Orbán.   The lead has been confirmed during a longer period.   If he succeds he will have many more seats in the Hungarian parliament of 199 seats that Orbán’s parties. But many – also non-Hungarian forces – try by different methods to help Orbán ☹   1. Russian interference: The leader of the opposition, Peter Magyar,   has announced publicly that he believes that Russia via a group placed in the Russian embassy in Budapest is spreading false and dangerous information on the social media.    The Russians, of course, deny it ! Magyar has sugg...

AFTER DEVOS ...

AFTER DAVOS … It was quite an experience to hear Mr. Trump in Davos day before yesterday ☹ I wouldn't call it a speech. It was a collection of words – served up over the course of 72 minutes. You have to look for nonsense and nonsense for a long time. We persevered all the way again – with the hope that maybe some sense would come. But it ended up with common self-praise, lies, nonsense, insults and – yes, mixing up several countries such as Greenland and Iceland ☹ I will have to address a few of the worst claims right away: 1.       NATO: Trump claimed that the US has paid for almost everything – and has received nothing in return. The facts are: The various countries' defense expenditures are NOT paid to NATO. They are their own expenses, paid for their own defense. The US therefore does not pay to NATO either (except for the small operating expenses for the organization, which all 32 members naturally share). 2.     ...

GREENLAND AND EUROPE: THE NEWEST DEVELOPMENTS

WHO IS TRUMP'S RULER?! The week is in full swing – a week of crucial importance for Denmark, Greenland and for Europe! And who is Trump “commander”?   Many people's strong assumptions are becoming more and more true! Think about this! Today, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, spoke at the Davos summit. Here her message was VERY, VERY CLEAR. Total support for Denmark and Greenland. Politically, militarily and economically. Find the speech – which was in English – on YouTube. Later today, French President Macron spoke at the same venue. And German Chancellor Merz will follow very soon. No wavering in the European clear line! Tomorrow, Wednesday, President Trump will speak in Davos. What new surprises does he have up his sleeve? And how will he be received by the 3,000 participants from all over the world? At the same time, both chambers of the US Congress now seem to have gathered a majority to prohibit Trump from intervening militarily i...

GREENLAND - CRUCIAL NEGOTIATIONS TODAY

Today, the Danish and Greenlandic foreign ministers are to meet with the US vice president and secretary of state in Washington. The meeting is taking place at the Danish-Greenlandic request. Here, the Danish-Greenlandic side will be very open to even closer cooperation with the Americans on security and on the exploitation of minerals. But they will NOT accept any form of American takeover of Greenland. Out of the question! In this position, Denmark-Greenland has the full support of the EU, Canada, the Nordic countries, and indeed most of the world. At the same time, work is being done to get a multinational military force to Greenland - to better defend the Arctic. And several countries will establish consulates in Nuuk. Canada did so last week. France will open its next month. And there will probably be more.

FREE TRADE IN PROGRESS IN THE WORLD - DESPITE OF TRUMP

This week from Jan. 12, 2026, the very important partnership and trade agreement between the EU and the South American Mercosur is being signed. This is a cooperation from 1991 between Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Bolivia is on its way to joining this cooperation. These countries have 270 million inhabitants. With the EU's population, it is a free trade area of a total of 700 million people - the largest in the world to date. The agreement removes 91% of the customs duties on EU exports to Mercosur and 92% of the customs duties on Mercosur's exports to the EU. Trade is worth €111 billion per year (or DKK 827 billion). In addition, the EU currently has €390 billion in investments in the Mercosur countries. This is of course a very important economic and trade agreement for both parties. But it is also a politically very significant initiative. Not least in these Trump days, when he and the USA mainly use tariffs and other old-fashioned protectionist measur...

TRUMP-PUTIN MEETING IN BUDAPEST - A NEW POLITICAL DIRTY TRICK

TRUMP – PUTIN IN BUDAPEST Another political dirty trick   Of course, it is always good that people talk to each other instead of waging war against one another. But when Trump and Putin agreed yesterday to meet in a couple of weeks, well, we know that it will be another opportunity for Putin to drag Trump around by his egocentric nose! The politically interesting – and embarrassing – thing is that the meeting will take place in Budapest. I hope they will also have time to lay a wreath at the memorial for the Russians' bloody invasion of Hungary in 1956 ☹ Why Budapest? There are several reasons for that. One is that it is one of the very few countries in Europe where Putin can come without being arrested – after his verdict at the International War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague a few years ago. Switzerland is the other country that has given him the green light for a visit despite the verdict. The second – and more important – reason is that both Russia and Trump h...
